Franz Lehar, well known for his waltzes, wrote some very catchy tunes in 2/4 time. This brisk and tuneful piece is a selection of his two in a bar tunes from the opera 'The Merry Widow '.

This piece is an original composition involving three themes, all variants of each other, developed and moulded together to form a tuneful, interesting and heterogeneous whole.

This is a TRIO (with full band accompaniment) using the unusual combination of Flugel Horn, Eb Horn and Bb Baritone. The various musical moments are intended to depict three friends as they take a walk along The Ridgeway path which runs from Avebury in Wilts to Ivinghoe Beacon in Bucks. Varied and tuneful.
